Itinerary Malindi Shopping and Curio Shop
It is a city of about 47,000 inhabitants. The excursion to Malindi begins with a visit to the old market that will immerse you in local life. You can find a wide range of handicraft products for your souvenirs.
There are evident signs of the past, such as the monument erected to Vasco De Gama made of madrepora blocks that supports the cross erected in 1499.
Near the cross is the Portuguese Chapel built in 1541 in which there is a fresco representing the crucifixion. To the north of the cross there are some pillar tombs, which for the local culture have great significance. The largest dates back to the fifteenth century and was built for the burial of the local sheikh.
